Important Information on Face Masks 2020

by Heather Stone | August 21, 2020

No mask will offer full protection, and they should not be viewed as a replacement for physical distancing of at least 1.5M from others, frequent handwashing and avoiding crowds. When you combine masks with those measures, they can make a big difference, but not a replacement.

Face masks are going to be around for a while.  They came on to the COVID19 market in March 2020 with disposable masks,  we were told they wouldn’t make a difference and they are not necessary and come July 2020 we are told they are very necessary, which makes total sense.  But disposable masks can be very uncomfortable and hard to wear for periods of time.

Disposable masks are a good solution for short periods of extra protection but not lengthy periods of time.  They are great for companies to supply in vending machines or when visitors show up without a mask and need them at the ready.

That period of March to July 2020 allowed the Australian Promotions Industry to develop and import fabric masks of different materials, styles and colours and a perfect landscape for promoting your logo.  There are more styles becoming available every week and what we can do with your logo is fantastic.  We can make your brand subtle or we can promote your brand loudly.

They are low in cost with a high impact, more comfortable than disposable masks and you would be the minority for not wearing a mask.

Checklist for fabric masks:

FABRIC:  hold it up to a light: If you can easily see the outline of the individual fibres, it's not going to make a great filter. – think multiple layers

Masks that have an inner pocket and supplied with a filter is a very good option for the extra layer.  If you don’t have filters you can put 2 folded tissues as the extra layer

SHAPE:  those that cup tightly to your face are best.  Masks with pleats or folds are also a good choice: The folds expand so that you have more air flowing through the fabric itself instead of leaking out through gaps at the sides of the mask. Masks with a flat front design are less effective.

WASH YOUR MASK DAILY: Make sure the mask is completely dry before you reuse it, as a wet mask can make it harder to breathe and can promote the growth of microorganisms. Most masks last about 25 washes but we can advise which masks do what at the time of enquiry.

Reusable masks are by far the smarter and more cost-effective solution plus your brand is on display. Please ask us about types, styles and costs.  At the moment, local stock is in demand, but we do have the option of organising these overseas as well with a minimum as low as 100 but a longer time frame.
